Workplace Yoga

Workplaces are in the middle of a stress & fatigue epidemic.

Yoga is an effective way for any business to support their employee’s all-round physical & mental health.

Absenteeism due to stress, anxiety, fatigue and burnout is any business’s worst nightmare costing UK businesses upwards of £14 billion per year.

Yoga is one of the tools you can deploy in your business to support your employee’s physical and mental wellbeing.

Yoga is such an effective intervention the National Institute of Clinical Excellence recommends all businesses in the UK offer yoga, mindfulness & meditation to their employees or support them with access to these practices.

The World Health Organisation has called stress the number one health epidemic of the 21st century

Stress statistics:

Stress is now the most common cause of long term absence in the workplace - 914,000 cases reported.

1 out of 5 employees report feeling ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ stressed at work.

In 2021/22 work-related stress, depression or anxiety accounted for:

51% of all work-related ill health
55% of all days lost due to work-related ill health
17 million lost working days

Health & Safety Executive, November 2022

“Mindfulness, meditation and yoga were most effective overall in reducing job stress & mental health symptoms & having a positive effect on employee wellbeing”

NICE Guidelines: Mental Wellbeing at Work, March 2022

3 steps to workplace wellbeing

Research

First up, we take time together to understand the issues specific to your team, culture and business and collaborate on how these can be best addressed.

Advise

I’ll take the research and design a programme of yoga using a range of tools, practices and useful resources specially designed for your employee’s needs.

Implement

We then roll out the programme in the best format for your employees, prioritising accessibility and inclusivity so everyone can get the most from their yoga practice.

How yoga can help your workplace

Yoga is scientifically proven to help manage stress, support musculoskeletal conditions and improve individual’s sense of wellbeing.

There are a range of different yoga tools incorporated into my workplace yoga and wellbeing programmes:

Calming relaxation techniques and simple breathing practices to equip employees manage stress and have a toolkit to draw from in times of stress, rather than trying to escape it whilst building a healthy, regulated nervous system. Effectively managed stress builds resilience in each individual’s nervous system, so when stress hits it affects them less and they’re able to cope.

Amplified rest and relaxation practices including Restorative Yoga to address fatigue & burnout. Micro practices to rest and reset, when concentration levels drop during the working day and in times of pressure or stress.

Mindfulness techniques to help employees become more present. Mindfulness helps by teaching skills to shift into a more neutral mindset, allowing for presence, open mindedness and clearer thinking instead of overthinking, and over analysing. This allows any individual to think with more clarity, work smarter, not harder, maintain productivity and spark creativity.

Accessible and gentle yoga movement to get moving, release tightness, aches and pains caused by sitting throughout the work day. Develop a suite of movement to incorporate through the day so your employees can manage their bodies better and find more ease in their day.
